Top Gaming Laptops

Top 5 Gaming Laptops

Gaming laptops have become extremely popular and with the advances in technology, laptops are now performing at levels that desk top computers are. Desk Top computers used to be the work horses but now gaming laptops are tops in performance. These gaming laptops run as fast as the top desk top computers and are portable which gamers just love. Gaming laptops are designed for maximum performance and cooling. The high end chips run hot and need some special cooling to keep them from overheating. Here are the top 5 gaming laptops.

1. Alienware Area-51 M15x Gaming Laptop

It was no surprise to me that the Alienware Area-51 gaming laptops are the fastest gaming laptops available. Alienware designs their gaming laptops for speed and performance. They use the best hardware available and it shows. They also tweak the operating system to run games much faster than any other system.

2. Gateway P171XL Gaming Laptop

The Gateway P171XL is an impressive gaming laptop and performs very well with all PC games. It is very fast but not quite in the same league as the Alienware Area-51. This is a very nice high performance laptop with a relatively low price tag.

3. Alienware Area-51 M9750 Gaming Laptop

Again the Alienware Area-51 gaming laptops are hard to beat and this is an older model too. These machines are lightening fast and perfect for gaming. It is really hard to beat an Alienware Area-51 system. They just scream.

4. Toshiba Satellite A305-S6845 Gaming Laptop

This is not a bad gaming laptop but lacks high end hardware and chipsets. This will make a descent laptop for some gaming but will not compete with the performance of the Alienware Area-51 series of gaming laptops. Nice laptop though but no thrills.

Toshiba Satellite A305-S6845 15.4-inch Laptop (2.1 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 Processor, 3 GB RAM, 400 GB Hard Drive, DVD Drive, Vista Premium)

5. Dell XPS M1730 Gaming Laptop

This is definitely not a gaming laptop in my opinion. I have 2 of these XPS laptops at work and they are definitely NOT fast. They are big and heavy but not jet fighter. The hardware is somewhat impressive but the performance just does not exist for serious gaming. I think this laptop needs more system memory and solid state drives to be able to compete with the rest. One think I do have to say is that the Dell XPS laptops are nice looking.

Ultimate Tough Laptop Computer

Here is the “Terminator” of laptop computers. It’s simply the toughest laptop ever built and is currently used by our military armed forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. I’ve always wanted to buy on but the price tag is a bit steep and it’s pretty heavy.

Top Gaming Desk Top Computers - Alienware

The top performing desk top computers have been and still are the famous “Alienware” computers. Alienware computers are simply the fastest computers built today. Not only are they the fastest computers but also the hottest looking with the neatest space-age designs, inside and out. There is nothing quite like an Alienware computer.

ALIENWARE AREA 51 7500

Let’s take a look at one of the top Alienware desk top computers, the Area-51: Quad Core Flagship.

One look at an Alienware computer and you know it’s something special. The outside design is extreme and unique to Alienware but let’s take a look inside where the extreme design doesn’t end.

The Area-51 desk top computer is equipped with the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo or Quad or Extreme CPUs for the highest performance imaginable. This technology incorporates breaking new technologies suited for multitaskers, gamers and enthusiasts seeking extreme performance. Alienware desk top computers powered with the Intel Core 2 Extreme CPU deliver lightening fast execution times and tremendous power.

The Area-51 desk top comes equipped with the world’s most sophisticated and powerful graphics card to process video at unheard of speeds. The 602MHz NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 280 GPU provides personal computer gamers with fifty percent more performance over older graphics cards with support for 2nd Generation NVIDIA Unified Architecture, DirectX® 10 and on-board PhysX® technology. These machines are built for gamers! And they are incredibly fast.

Area-51 comes preloaded with Windows Vista but it is not an ordinary Vista configuration. Alienware tweaks the operating system for maximum performance. They disable services that are not needed and reduce the windows “bloat”. These systems scream!!

The Area-51 desk top computer unleashes 4TB  of storage in either RAID 1 or RAID 0. You can store anything and everything without running out of storage. And now Alienware has just introduced the implementation of solid state drives or SSD for short. These drives have no moving parts and work just like system memory or RAM with the exception that it is non-volatile memory which means when the power is turned off, the data is not lost. SSDs will increase the performance by 35%. SSD is the next generation of storage. The Area-51 has a maximum memory capacity of 4 GB. They are quite impressive when they’re loaded with 4 GB of memory. Make sure to get the lowest latency memory you can get. This makes a big difference.

The Area-51 comes with the Blu-ray optical drive which enables you to store 50GB on a single Blu-ray disc.

One of the most unique and well know features of Alienware computers is their cooling system, Alien Ice. Alien Ice is Alienware’s sophisticated and advanced engineering air induction system and cooling system. It’s composed of strategically positioned air induction vents and fans plus a high performance liquid cooling system. This complex cooling system keeps this spaceship from burning up in the atmosphere.

Flat Screen Computers Sale

Flat Screen Computers on Sale

Flat screen computers are the latest hi tech computer designs that are both functional and fashionable which means they work well and look good. If you have any kind of space restraints then flat screen computers will meet your needs perfectly. The flat screen computers are basically a LCD or flat screen monitor with a built in CPU. This makes it a very compact design and will fit anywhere. Another benefit of the flat screen computers is cable management. Since the CPU is attached to the monitor, you do not have to run the video cable down the computer desk and also the keyboard and mouse. This reduces the number of cables that have to be run from the top of your desk to the CPU on the floor. Cable management can be a real pain too. This type of computer system virtually eliminates this problem. There are many computer manufacturers that make flat screen computers such as IBM, HP, Dell, Sony and many more. I perosnally like the HP flat screen computers.

Computer Solid State Drives Are Here!!!

I am so glad that someone has finally manufactured a solid state drive. I’ve been waiting for years for this day. Soon all computers will be configured with solid state drives. Toshiba and Samsung are introducing their 256 GB solid state drives or SSD’s and shipping them currently. SSD’s are more expensive than conventional disk drives but are much faster and more reliable since there are no moving parts. Solids state drives are much smaller and lighter than conventional disk drives. SSD is an incredible advancement in computer technology.

So what is a solid state drive? Well to put it in simple terms, it’s a large memory module (RAM) but is non-volatile which means it does not loose any data when the power is turned off. It’s actually non-volatile memory. It’s almost as fast as memory too which makes it way faster than any type of disk drives today. Dell has tried solid state drives in their laptops and noticed an increase of 35% in performance with no other changes to the system. Toshiba and Samsung are the leaders in solids state drive technology. They both are racing to get their 256GB SSD’s out the door.

The current solids state drives can read at a speed of 120MB per second and write at 70MB per second. These drives perform miles ahead of standard disk drives. IBM and Apple already have laptops with solid state drives in them. Micron and Intel are also on their way to producing solid state drives in the 256GB capacity. It should not be too long before larger solid state drives hit the market. I think 500GB solid state drives are just around the corner. Prices should also drop significantly.
